TALKE's LIGHT Foundation donates to KIDsmiling e.V.
Putting a smile on the faces of children is the goal of the football project organised by the Cologne-based non-profit, KIDsmiling, which logistics service provider TALKE is supporting with a donation amounting to 5,000 euros through its LIGHT Foundation.
"Sport brings people together, fosters social skills, integration and boosts the self confidence of the teenagers in an enjoyable way. This makes it a worthwhile project in our opinion, and one we're very pleased to support", stated Alfred Talke, Group Managing Director of TALKE, explaining the charity's involvement.
KIDsmiling is a long-term project. This summer, the project organised the annual KIDsmiling Football Cup in the RheinEnergieSportpark in Cologne for the 9th time. Over 250 children in three age groups demonstrated their footballing skills whilst being cheered on by the spectators, including Mayoress of Cologne, Elfi Scho-Antwerpes, the KIDsmiling founder and chairwoman Dr. Sandra von Möller and the President and Vice President of FC Köln Football Club, Werner Spinner and Markus Ritterbach. The team supported by the LIGHT Foundation finished 3rd in the 14-to-18-year-old age group.
Each week, the organisation enables up to 400 girls and boys aged between 6 and 18 years to train with experienced, pedagogically skilled football coaches at over 28 locations in and around Cologne. The donation made by the LIGHT Foundation is helping support the coaching programme in the Vingst district of Cologne.
With its "LIGHT - live in greater hope for tomorrow" Foundation, the logistics service provider is seeking to improve the living conditions of young people and offer them the prospect of a brighter future. It supports selected projects within Germany to this end.
