Milestone for Tomorrow’s Mobility: TALKE Group Invests in Hydrogen Trucks from KEYOU

With GRIMMENER SPEZITRANS and KEYOU, we’re taking the next step toward zero-emission logistics. Two hydrogen-powered 40-tonners will join our fleet in 2026 – sustainable, powerful, and ADR-certified.

A strong signal for the future of carbon-free heavy-duty transport: With GRIMMENER SPEZITRANS, a company of the TALKE Group, KEYOU announces one of the first customers for its 40-ton truck. The semi-trailer tractor, based on the Daimler Actros platform, was first introduced at last year’s IAA Transportation in Hanover, with the official sales launch following at the end of 2024. SPEZITRANS will integrate two 40-ton trucks into its fleet starting in 2026 – both equipped with hydrogen engines and the well-known KEYOU-inside technology. The Grimmen-based company, specialized in chemical and gas logistics, will deploy the vehicles in Northern Germany.

Convincing Technology and a Smooth Transition to KEYOU’s New Drive Solution

KEYOU ultimately won over SPEZITRANS thanks to its many diesel-comparable features and its “H2 Mobility as a Service” model. The company does not have to make significant compromises in payload, range, or refueling times and can rely on KEYOU’s all-inclusive mobility solution for a smooth, low-risk, and well-planned transition to the new technology. Transporting hazardous materials plays a key role in this: KEYOU’s 40-ton truck is certified for ADR dangerous goods type FL (AT), making it suitable for specialized transport.

“The decision to invest in hydrogen trucks is more than a technological leap for us – it is a clear commitment to sustainable transport and future-ready entrepreneurship,” says Daniel Gutmann, Managing Director of SPEZITRANS. “Together with KEYOU, we are sending a strong message: We don’t just want to join in – we want to lead the way.”

Pioneering Spirit and Determination for Sustainable Road Freight Transport

By choosing hydrogen and hydrogen engines, SPEZITRANS is not only making an innovative move but also delivering an important impetus within the TALKE Group. The experience gained from this project is intended to be transferred to other locations and applications – in line with an integrated, future-oriented mobility concept.

“We are very pleased to have convinced such an innovative and forward-looking company as SPEZITRANS and the TALKE Group of KEYOU and our technology, and to welcome them as one of the first customers of our new 40-ton truck,” summarizes Pedro Bravo, Chief Sales Officer at KEYOU. “We need companies with exactly this ‘Moving Forward’ mentality and pioneering spirit to drive and shape the mobility transition in heavy-duty transport.”

TALKE Group: Climate Goals in Focus

The initiative in Grimmen represents another step in the TALKE Group’s strategic sustainability agenda. As a globally leading logistics partner for the chemical industry, TALKE is committed to consistently improving its climate footprint. The company is investing in a wide range of alternative drive technologies – from battery-electric vehicles and HVO100 to hydrogen solutions.

“With our investment, we are actively shaping the transformation – courageously, proactively, and responsibly.”
“For us, sustainability doesn’t stop at good intentions,” emphasizes Christoph Grunert, Managing Director of the TALKE Group. “We invest specifically in research, pilot projects, and partnerships to actively help shape the future of transport. Because alternative drives are not a side issue – they are a core part of our responsibility.”
