TALKE USA, Inc. is transitioning its Class 8 truck fleet to RD99 renewable diesel, taking an immediate and tangible step toward reducing the carbon footprint of its transportation operations while maintaining the safety, reliability and performance required in chemical logistics.
The decision follows a successful previous trial of RD99 and continued monitoring of fuel availability, operational performance and market conditions. With a viable supply option now available and current commercial conditions at or near parity with conventional ultra-low sulfur diesel, TALKE USA will move forward with implementation across its Class 8 fleet.
The transition supports TALKE’s broader Crafting Responsible Logistics approach and the company’s commitment to continuously reducing the environmental impact of its operations through practical, commercially viable solutions.
“For us, responsible logistics means turning our sustainability objectives into concrete actions,” said Richard Heath, CEO of TALKE USA. “The move to RD99 is an opportunity to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of our existing transportation fleet today, without compromising the safety, reliability and service quality our customers expect from TALKE.”
RD99 is a renewable diesel that can be used in conventional diesel engines, allowing TALKE USA to begin reducing the lifecycle carbon intensity of its transportation activities while continuing to utilize its existing Class 8 vehicles and supporting infrastructure.
For TALKE USA, the ability to achieve a meaningful environmental benefit without requiring a major fleet replacement was an important factor in the decision.
“The transition to RD99 demonstrates how sustainability and operational performance can work together,” Heath added. “We do not believe that progress has to wait for one future technology. Where solutions are available, proven and commercially sustainable, we want to act. RD99 gives us that opportunity now.”
The implementation is part of a broader effort by TALKE USA to evaluate alternative fuels and next-generation transportation technologies. Rather than relying on a single solution, the company is pursuing a measured approach that considers environmental impact alongside operational reliability, infrastructure availability and long-term commercial viability.
Hydrogen fuel cell technology and other alternative-drive solutions remain part of TALKE USA’s longer-term transportation strategy. RD99, however, provides an opportunity to make a significant change across the existing fleet immediately.
“From an operational perspective, RD99 gives us a very practical pathway to reduce emissions across our current fleet,” said Alexander Boehm, Chief Operating Officer of TALKE USA. “We have tested the fuel, evaluated the available supply and reviewed the commercial conditions. Based on those results, we are ready to move from evaluation to implementation.”
For Heath, the transition is also representative of how TALKE USA intends to approach the broader transformation of heavy-duty transportation.
“There will not be one single answer to the decarbonization of logistics,” Heath said. “Our responsibility is to understand the available technologies, implement solutions where they make sense and continue learning as the market develops. Moving our Class 8 fleet to RD99 is an important step on that journey and one that allows us to create a measurable impact now.”
The transition from conventional diesel to RD99 represents another concrete step in TALKE USA’s efforts to combine responsible growth, operational excellence and sustainable logistics.
