A glimpse behind the scenes of fleet management

Swapping the school desk for the bosses chair for a day - this became reality yesterday for Leon Hübsch, a high school graduate from Viersen: The passionate amateur photographer won a day as manager of the Fleet Management & Workshop Business Unit at the chemical logistics service provider TALKE as part of the "Meine Position ist spitze" (My position is top) campaign.

He was given enthusiastic support along the way by Mirco Sievers, who heads up the business unit that was newly formed at the start of the year. He introduced Leon Hübsch to the departments and functions within his sphere of activity. They visited the container and vehicle workshop together and took part in a TÜV inspection. Other highlights of the day included the team leader meeting, which Leon Hübsch was allowed to chair, and a meeting with a new supplier that had approached TALKE.

"I already imagined that the services provided by a chemical logistics specialist are wide-ranging. But I didn't know how many individual aspects there were to consider in the fleet area alone just to make sure that everything runs smoothly, and most importantly, safely", reports Leon Hübsch. "The drivers in particular perform an amazing job here. From now on, I'll treat the trucks on the road with more respect."

"Leon Hübsch is very open-minded and posed some very good questions", Mirco Sievers is pleased to report. "The new point of view he brought with him led to some interesting conversations between us."

The high school graduate from Viersen took part in the "Meine Position ist spitze!" campaign organised by the regional industry association ChemCologne, competing against numerous other pupils from the region for a day in the boss's seat. The pupils could choose between various positions at Currenta, Evonik, Infraserv Knapsack, Lanxess, the Rhein-Erft Akademie, TALKE and Shell. A total of ten different boss's seats were up for grabs for a day as part of the campaign. The goal of the initiative is to make future graduating students aware of the exciting jobs available in the chemical industry.
