Safety
A vibrant safety culture and the highest standards: The foundation of our work
TALKE's safety philosophy provides a foundation for all of our company’s activities. It rests on two key pillars: carefully maintained, top-quality equipment and the on-going training of all staff members.
Safety and quality at every step: the TALKE promise
Our approach to quality and safety management corresponds to strict international standards, many of which were created especially for the chemical industry. Depending on their specific country and the industry segment to which they provide logistic support, the TALKE Group’s sites are:
- certified according to ISO 9001:2015 standards for transportation, storage and handling, as well as for cleaning, maintenance and repair
- inspected in accordance with the Safety and Quality Assessment System (SQAS) standards for road transport, tank cleaning and warehousing
- audited and approved in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards
On top of these standards, TALKE supplements its efforts to achieve top quality and safety with its own internal safety programme, SIAS (Safety In All Situations), as well as with its auxiliary TIPS (TALKE Intensive Personalschulungen) training courses. Over the past 20 years, we have trained more than 8,000 employees on these programmes, resulting in our being recognised as an official training provider in the industry.
Bringing safety to life through BBS training
Safety is not simply a matter of training and practice, however; it must be lived. In order to make staff more safety-conscious in their daily work, TALKE has introduced the behaviour-based safety (BBS) approach. Training sessions based on this principle encourage employees to ‘think safety’ and to always actively seek it out from day to day.
In parallel to this, we are constantly striving to enhance the technical safety of our operations. Our transport and warehousing equipment are maintained and inspected in line with current safety standards. The use of highly sensitive sensors and alarm systems in all relevant areas ensures that departures from normal operation are immediately recognised and responded to. Meanwhile, channel shut-off systems prevent materials from seeping into drains should an incident occur. TALKE also has an emergency plan that specifies internal information and communication channels in case of malfunction. All operations are regularly inspected and undergo incident training exercises.
