Sweet transport for the Kölner Tafel food bank

The Kölner Tafel food bank was expecting a delivery of chocolate bars, with temperatures outside hovering around 30°C. The bars were transported by TALKE in a special refrigerated truck designed for temperature-sensitive goods. This ensured that the bars were kept at a constant temperature and reached their destination in perfect condition despite the current unusually high outdoor temperatures.

"The equipment is designed for temperature-controlled transport at temperatures between plus 30 and minus 30 degrees Celsius," explains Group Managing Director Alfred Talke. "It's fitted with the latest technology that allows us to constantly monitor the temperature within the truck so that the chocolate bars could be transported not only in pristine condition, but appropriately cooled too." Karin Fürhaupter, Chair of the Kölner Tafel, was very pleased to receive the support: "We wouldn't have been able to transport this very generous donation with our own vehicles at such high temperatures without the goods melting. Our customers are naturally thrilled about the sweet addition to the usual fruit, vegetables and other food we offer."

The food donated by companies is provided to the beneficiaries of the food bank free of charge. Only products that are perfectly safe to consume are distributed. TALKE has been supporting the Cologne-Aachen district food bank (whose central warehouse is in Köln-Rodenkirchen) for many years with material and immaterial assistance. Amongst other things, the specialist logistician regularly provides its own articulated vehicles when the food bank's own vehicles are in use making local distribution trips or are inadequate for collecting large donations.
